La Guinguette de la laine

Located in the heart of the Couserans region, in the Parc Naturel des Pyrénées Ariégeoises in Alas - Balaguères, La Guinguette de la Laine is a place where tradition and innovation come together to celebrate the beauty and richness of wool.

Our story began with a shared passion for the noble material of wool, and a deep commitment to local farmers. We created "Le Fil de la Guinguette", a project that aims to give wool back its authentic value, from farm to needle, from sheep to creation.
In our approach, we work closely with breeders in the Occitanie region who are aware of the importance of preserving and promoting this ancestral know-how. The wool is carefully harvested, then transported to the last multi-purpose spinning mill in Ariège, where it is transformed into yarn.
At La Guinguette de la Laine, our commitment doesn't stop there. We take great pleasure in dyeing this yarn in our workshops, using vegetable dyes that come partly from our wild gatherings and our garden of dyeing plants, offering natural and unique colours to our creations, imbued with the vibrant, powdery colours of our region.
But La Guinguette de la Laine is more than just a place of production. It's also a place for creation and sharing, where three wool artisans have come together to bring their passions to life. Mamette Laine, Christel Gonzales and Anne Ferrié from Nature&Création, and Ben Touzet from Ull, are using their talent to promote traditional and modern skills, and together they have created the "BAM" brand.
In our boutique, you'll discover a selection of unique products, ranging from skeins of wool to circular looms, as well as original hand-crafted coats, skirts, jumpers and small series of garments.

Finally, for those who want to learn more about the craft of wool, we offer educational courses and workshops, where everyone can learn the techniques of knitting, spinning, weaving, crochet and much more.
