Nestling in a small valley in the Pyrenean foothills between Foix and Saint-Girons, Combelongue Abbey and its gardens, which have been awarded the Jardin Remarquable label, offer the charm and prestige of a place steeped in history.
Founded in 1138 by the Count of Pallars, Combelongue Abbey is the only Romanesque abbey in the Couserans region. It is one of the jewels in the crown of the region's heritage.
Its Mudejar-influenced architecture is exceptional on this slope of the Pyrenees, and the sculpted decoration is pure and symbolic.
Contemporary stained-glass windows adorn the abbey church.
