Grange de l’Ossèse

La Grange d'Ossèse is situated in the heart of the mountains, with a breathtaking view over the peaceful Ossèse valley in the Ustou valley. It is at the start of a number of hiking trails, making it an ideal base for exploring the Couserans mountains!

The barn is located at the start of the hiking trail that leads to the Port du Marterat and then to Spain or the Lastien waterfall, and is close to the Cagateille cirque.
The Ossèse valley was once a village of barns, or bourdaou as they say in the Couserans. The barns have been restored in the same way as small dwellings, in a warm and simple way.
Solar panels provide the necessary electrical energy and spring water is collected (you'll need to bring bottled water for drinking).
Michael, your host, is a member of the Couserans Mountain Guides Association.
If you wish, you can take part in one or more guided walks during your stay. You'll discover the wildlife that inhabits these mountains, including isards, the recently reintroduced Iberian ibex, large birds of prey, deer and, of course, the brown bears.
The aim is both to help you discover the mountain environment, with a wide range of books available on a self-service basis, and to give you a chance to spend some quiet time with friends or family. Board games and films (bring a laptop if you have one for viewing) are also available.
In winter, the last 1.2 km are not cleared of snow (even 4WD vehicles are prohibited). In this case, hire is for people for whom this is not a constraint but a pleasure. It's a bit more sporty (return journey on foot or snowshoes with rucksacks to bring your things).
Remember to have your mobile phones charged when you arrive. When both barns are occupied, it can be a lot to recharge and you have to be careful with electricity (solar panels)... External batteries that can charge your phones several times are recommended.

During the summer school holidays: minimum week from Saturday to Saturday.
The rest of the time: any combination possible, minimum 3 days, regardless of the day of arrival.
