One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Pyrenees !
The Count of Russel, a renowned Pyrenean specialist at the end of the 19th century, placed it ahead of all its rivals.
246m high, in three successive tiers, it is clearly at its peak in spring, between May and June, when the snow melts.
That said, it is so impressive that each season gives it a special charm !
Your starting point is located in the village of Aulus-les-Bains, 20 metres above the town centre.
The hike to the Ars Waterfall takes a little under four hours, there and back, along a mountain path. Of medium difficulty, it is feasible for families, provided that you have the right shoes and have prepared your mountain bag, of course : see our hiking tips !
This is one of my favorite walks, and one that I take every year. The route is a little long, but what a reward you’ll find as you arrive and discover the place. The waterfall springs from the top of the cliff to make a first jump of 90 metres, before draping the rocks in a lush, green backdrop. If you’re around, come and see me in Aulus !
